Parents, grandparents, siblings, mentors and friends trickled in to Bolsa Grande Stadium bearing fresh bouquets, colorful leis and festive Mylar balloons for Bolsa Grande High School’s 54th commencement ceremony on Wednesday, June 19.
As the Bolsa Grande Symphonic Orchestra played “Pomp and Circumstance,” 516 Bolsa Grande High School seniors marched onto the field, dressed in navy blue robes and matching caps with tassels swaying gently on the right side of their heads.
“We’re here to finish what we started four years ago,” said valedictorian Patrick Jeon.
Jeon, senior class president Eric Juarez and valedictorian Katrina Tram Nguyen each delivered a message to their fellow peers reflecting on their high school careers and encouraging them in their future plans.
“All the struggles we’ve overcome and the experiences we’ve learned from have molded us into the fine young men and women we are today,” said Juarez. “We now embark on the opportunities ahead of us.”
Diplomas in hand and tassels swinging on their left, graduates of Bolsa Grande’s class of 2013 exited the stadium and entered a new stage of their lives.
La Quinta High School, Pacifica High School and Rancho Alamitos High School also held their graduation ceremonies at Bolsa Grande Stadium. Other schools held their graduation ceremonies at Garden Grove Stadium, the Lincoln Education Center, Lincoln Continuation High School and Hare Continuation High School. Over 3,700 high school and adult education students graduated from Garden Grove Unified School District schools this year.
