The ordinance was originally passed by the council on Oct. 24, 2012 and was renewed for 10 months on Nov. 14, 2012.
Overcrowding of parking lots because of the proliferation of restaurants in centers in Westminster has led to the ordinance. The law requires more parking spaces for eateries in shopping mall lots.
Since it is considered an urgency ordinance, it must be approved by at least four of the five council members. To allow city staff time to develop, create and process a permanent ordinance, this ordinance will come back for a 45-day extension on Aug. 28, 2013.
The Westminster City Council will meet at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber building at 8200 Westminster Blvd.
